In reading Paul’s list of sufferings, we often pass over the details without fully considering what they reveal about the man himself. This brief study examines the hardships Paul describes in 2 Corinthians 11:23–28, helping us better understand the remarkable endurance, intelligence, and commitment of the Apostle.
We will look at:
- What Paul means when he says he “labored.”
- The list of hardships he endured.
- The difference between “perils of waters” and “perils in the sea.”
- The meaning of the phrase “in deaths oft.”
In his letter to the Galatians, Paul also refers to his scars as the “brand-marks of Jesus.”
